Liz Mealey is a filmmaker currently earning her MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles. Prior to attending AFI, Liz lensed and co-produced two New York independent feature-length films; the documentary More Than Academics won “Outstanding Feature Documentary” at the 2022 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, and the narrative feature Broke Boi premiered at the 2023 Harlem International Film Festival.
As an artist-activist, Liz is passionate about character-driven stories that uplift underrepresented voices and spark social change. As a cinematographer, she approaches each project with curiosity and elasticity to develop a unique and meaningful visual language that resonates with audiences on an emotional level.
